Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have quietly made a name for themselves writing and directing unnerving, adventurous and genre-confounding horror films (Resolution, Spring), and with their third collaboration THE ENDLESS they turn their idiosyncratic gaze onto the experience of growing up in a cult.
When brothers Justin and Aaron (played by the directors themselves) were children, their mother died in a car accident and they were taken in and raised by a collectivist commune of apparently mildmannered beer makers with ‘interesting’ beliefs.  As they grew older, Justin eventually rebelled and left the commune, dragging Aaron with him, and their highly publicised ‘escape from the UFO death cult’ has since dominated their lives.
When the brothers receive a cryptic message on a video tape from one of the members of the commune, they decide their return could be a means of giving the earlier portion of their lives a sense of closure.  But something is wrong within the commune; the smiles of the members seem forced, there’s unexplained phenomena constantly occurring around the camp and everyone is anticipating a momentous event: The Ascension.

Described as "a meta-commentary of the nature of storytelling and a self-examination of the creative mind", THE ENDLESS highlights once again the talents of its directors who were selected as one of “Variety” magazine’s ten directors to watch in 2015.

"The Endless is the purest vision we could ever hope to see from two filmmakers who are as comfortable examining the mysteries of the universe as they are the intimacies of our own hearts." BIRTH MOVIES DEATH

"... akin to a 'blockbuster of the mind." FILMINK

About the directors:

Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are the team behind the Toronto Film Festival 2014 favorite Spring and the Tribeca 2012 hit Resolution. The films have been acclaimed for their naturalistic performances, dreamlike cinematography, and avant-garde approach.

...deeply unsettling, fantastically eerie...a phantasmagoria of surreal mystery.
"[A] rich banquet of mind-bending weirdness."
