3077 REV19: BAIT

Beautifully shot on 16mm black and white film, Bait tells the story of a fishing family in a slowly gentrifying Cornish coastal Community that has been ravaged by recession. Brothers Martin (Edward Rowe) and Steven (Giles King) are battling over their fishing boat - Martin wants to fish while Steven wants to use it for
tourism. Meanwhile wealthy out-of-towners are buying properties and transforming the village and the lives of those within it. As the summer progresses so tensions in the community rise.

Although concerned with the lives and struggles of its protagonists, Bait embraces a more experimental visual style than classic kitchen sink dramas.

The cinematic style and carefully constructed score, alongside strong performances from the cast, creates a well-crafted narrative feature and stunning feature debut for director Mark Jenkin

“A stylish experimental drama from England’s rugged Wild West.” THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

**** “Cornish film-maker Mark Jenkin has contributed one of the
most arrestingly strange movies in Berlin this year.” PETER BRADSHAW. THE GUARDIAN
