The documentary Whitney (directed by Academy Award winner Kevin Macdonald) tells the story of Whitney Houston’s life through the original studio recordings of her greatest hits and footage from the Houston estate's archives. Due to the access that the film-makers were given, the film also includes previously unreleased recordings, live performances recorded by Houston and personal home movie footage that has never been seen publicly before.
Whitney rose to fame in the mid-Eighties, and went on to win two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards, among a total of 415 career awards, as well as an acclaimed film career with The Bodyguard, Waiting to Exhale and The Preacher's Wife.
She tragically died in February 2012.
Directed by Oscar winner, Kevin Macdonald – director of documentaries such as TOUCHING THE VOID, MARLEY, BEING MICK, & ONE DAY IN SEPTEMBER, and feature dramas; THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND & STATE OF PLAY.
