Two park rangers travel deep into the primordial forest, where a chance encounter with a quasi-survivalist father and son, who live amongst the remote, dense green trees exposes a new and unfamiliar world…

Jaco Bouwer’s twisted environmental horror/fantasy movie takes some unexpected paths on its journey into a particularly contemporary heart of darkness. Featuring Carel Nel (seen in Roots, Raised by Wolves, Grant), Anthony Oseyemi (Five Fingers for Marseilles), and comparative newcomers Monique Rockman and Alex Van Dyk, who all deliver great performances.

With a considered and focused narrative, beautifully atmospheric cinematography, and strong cast, Gaia is a film that should have audiences on the edge of the seats and thinking about it long after they’ve left the cinema. Garnering favourable comparisons to everything from Annihilation to Pan’s Labyrinth, Gaia is an imaginative, powerful horror film, that delivers.

Short film Heal Me (5 minutes) to play before film starts.
