Essie Davis (Babadook, Babyteeth) takes a star turn in this story of one woman’s battle against the odds as from poverty up, she struggles to keep her family together, maintain her dignity and fight against stereotype.

Bunny King is a mother of two, a rough-cut diamond with a sketchy past. While battling the system to reunite with her children, a confrontation leads her to take her niece Tonyah under her wing. With the world against her and Tonyah, Bunny’s battle has just begun – and Davis gives it everything she’s got.

Using every trick in the book to dig herself out of a position that only ever seeks to take her downward, the simple story exerts a strange double-barrelled sad truth but positive energy as Bunny works as hard as she can to make things right.

With excellent performances throughout The Justice of Bunny King is a fine work from across the ditch and a great testament to Davis’ on-screen skill and presence.

Short film White Goods (8 minutes) to play before film starts.
