We're Not Here to Fuck Spiders special Q&A screning.
A tense, claustrophobic drama, created from surveillance footage, that spins the viewer into a grim world of petty – and not so petty – crime.

Constructed from found surveillance footage, We’re Not Here To Fuck Spiders is a brutal, immediate crime drama that feels has the grim, claustrophobic intensity of The Boys and Holiday

There’s no glamour here, just grime. The low-level pushers and largely-petty criminals that are the focus of the narrative are terrifyingly-believably scary, the whole cast delivering powerful immersive performances.

The performances and wholly unpredictable unfolding story is thanks to director Josh Reed’s own approach where he kept all performers only informed of their role in the what quite literally was a squat and where none knew the path of others. With largely improvised performances, this film is somewhat of an Australian independent marvel and is packed fully of electricity and dynamic power.

This is a film that doesn’t let up. The entire movie feels dirty and unpleasant, and the viewing experience isn’t for the faint-hearted, but for those who take the trip, We’re Not Here To Fuck Spiders is a homegrown crime movie that truly delivers.

Short film The Recordist (18 minutes) to play before film starts.
