It girls, grieving high-schoolers and cyber dragons collide in Mamoru Hosoda’s dazzling highly anticipated record-breaking Anime feature.

Suzu is a 17-year-old high school student living in a rural village with her father. For years, she has only been a shadow of herself. One day, she enters “U,” a virtual world of 5 billion members on the internet. There, she is not Suzu anymore but Belle, a world-famous singer. She soon meets with a mysterious creature. Together, they embark on a journey of adventures, challenges and love, in their quest of becoming who they truly are. The new eagerly anticipated film from Studio Chizu and Mamoru Hosoda, the Academy Award-nominated director of Wolf Children and Mirai, comes to cinemas Luna Cinemas on January 20.

Critics are saying...
“An exciting, wildly imaginative future world that takes your breath away with its beauty.” The Hollywood Reporter

“Fascinating” The Playlist

“Captivating” Screen Daily

“Mamoru Hosoda’s follow-up to Miraï is an eye-popping, hyper-modern anime update of Beauty and the Beast with a side of online bullying. It aims somewhere between The Matrix and Eighth Grade, and somehow kinda hits that mark.” Indie wire

“Spectacular, imaginative and guided by human emotion.“ The Hollywood Reporter

“There is usually one film per Cannes that emotionally bulldozes me, and this year Belle was it. Takes a while to work out exactly what it’s up to – but when you do, wham. Final leg especially is miraculous.” The Telegraph

“I loved, loved Mamoru Hosoda’s Belle, a dazzling cyber fairy-tale that will be getting all the stars I can possibly throw at it. The songs are Greatest Showman-level bangers too.” Time Out

“A Beautiful Update of the Tale as Old as Time for the Extremely Online Generation. Get ready for your new favourite non-Disney princess.” Collider
