Luna Cinemas Leederville is very excited to be screening PULSE the debut feature from local WA writer/actor Daniel Monks and director Stevie Cruz-Martin (Marrow) on Wednesday 29 May at Luna Leederville. Join us for a complimentary drink on arrival from 6.00pm (while stocks last) for a 6.30pm film start.
PULSE Director, producer and cinematographer Stevie Cruz-Martin will conduct a special Q&A screening with Annie Murtagh-Monks, casting director & Pulse Executive Producer, following the 6.30pm session hosted by Network Ten Newsreader Narelda Jacobs.
Mixing sexuality and teen angst with an undercurrent of sci-fi, this bold fantasy follows a gay disabled teen who undergoes a mysterious procedure that gives him the body of a young able-bodied woman in order to pursue his love object.
Exploring how our bodies shape who we are and how we are perceived, Pulse is a modern day parable for the young, the queer, the disabled and for anyone who has ever struggled with their sexuality, their desires, and essentially, themselves.
It is a deeply personal film, exploring thematic questions such as how much our bodies shape who we are, where is the line between compromising for love and changing yourself to be loved, and why we fall in love with the people we fall in love with.
It is a parable film for young people, queer people, disabled people; but more than that, for anyone who has ever struggled with their body, their appearance, their sexuality, their desires, and essentially, themselves.
“‘Pulse is a brave, thought-provoking piece of filmmaking and storytelling and a movie with a real beating heart at its core.” - Inside Film
