Fremantle Design Week is a biennial festival of design and design ideas.

The third Fremantle Design Week brings eleven days of exhibitions, conversations, tours, workshops, films, open studios and special events to Walyalup from 16 – 25 October 2026.

The theme for Fremantle Design Week 2026 (FDW2026) is imagine. It’s an invitation to find joy and creativity during challenging times, as designers globally pivot to create a healthy and optimistic future. FDW2026 brings together local and national voices to explore this theme.

Cities of Tomorrow weaves a generational and intellectual dialogue through the streets of London, Milan, and beyond, exploring core climate change challenges in our cities and spotlighting the innovators rewriting the future.

The Plastic Country is a free community screening of a young man’s journey across Australia investigating the plastic crisis, starkly revealing the threat to our health and future. 

The Makers Film Festival 2026 is a delightful collection of 12 short films from 11 countries with one obsession: making with our hands.

FDW acknowledges the traditional custodians of Walyalup, the Whadjuk people of the Noogar Boodjar and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to their cultures and to the Elders past and present. We use the names Walyalup and Fremantle interchangeably across our communications.
