Synopsis
Australian Premiere
Classe Moyenne
Freshly graduated corporate lawyer, Mehdi (Sami Outalbali, Meet the Leroys, AF FFF25) is looking forward to a peaceful summer in the luxurious South of France estate of his future in-laws.
But his vacation quickly takes an unexpected turn, when upon his arrival, a dispute erupts between his fiancée Garance’s (Noée Abita, Maria into Life, AF FFF23) family and the villa’s caretakers, Tony and Nadine (Ramzy Bedia, Love Songs For Tough Guys, AF FFF22 and Laure Calamy, Iris and the Men, AF FFF24). At the heart of the conflict is a class issue.
Coming from a modest background Medhi can completely relate to the situation, but he hopes to land an internship at his future father-in-law Philippe’s (Laurent Lafitte, The Count of Monte Cristo, AF FFF25) law firm, so he embarks on a bold attempt to negotiate peace between the two parties.
However, the initial quarrels quickly escalate, into a full-blown family conflict where money, power, and pride clash relentlessly. Will the two families manage to reach a compromise?
Directed by Antony Cordier (Happy Few, AF FFF11), this hilarious dark comedy draws inspiration from real-life situations experienced by the authors and their acquaintances, exaggerated here to the extreme for satirical effect. While the themes are sometimes dark, the humour always balances the tension, making the film both sharp and entertaining.
