*Joanne Norman features in Don’t Be Prey, and since filming wrapped, she has completed the Oceans Seven challenge – the first Australian woman to do so. You can read more about Joanne HERE
*Andy Donaldson. Born in Scotland and now based in Perth, Australia, Andy Donaldson has combined extraordinary endurance challenges with a powerful mission: to raise awareness for mental health, protect the ocean, and use his platform to inspire others. Donaldson is a multiple world record holder and the first person to complete the Oceans Seven marathon swim challenge within a single year. He was voted Man of the Year and Performance of the Year in the World Open Water Swimming Association awards for 2023.
Don’t Be Prey is an edge-of-your-seat adventure into one man’s fight to reclaim his life by taking on the world’s most dangerous marathon swims, the Oceans Seven.
After the collapse of his business sends him into a deep depression, former investment banker Mark Sowerby turns back to the water. Having conquered the English Channel in 2015, he sets his sights on completing the remaining six brutal crossings that make up the Oceans Seven — a relentless series of open-water challenges across the globe.
At first, the title Don’t Be Prey feels like a tongue-in-cheek nod to the ever-present threat of sharks. But through Sowerby’s journey, it reveals a far deeper meaning: a powerful mantra about confronting fear, embracing vulnerability, and refusing to be consumed by inner doubt.
Featuring unforgettable characters, raw vulnerability and breathtaking ocean feats, it’s a gripping, uplifting journey of resilience, reinvention and what it really takes to survive.
Screening at Luna Leederville and Luna on SX from May 7.
