Synopsis

Frankenhooker (1990) is a wild, black-comedy horror about Jeff, a grieving scientist who resurrects his fiancée using body parts from New York City sex workers, creating a flamboyantly patchwork, part-zombie “Frankenhooker.” Equal parts grotesque and campy, the film revels in over-the-top gore, absurd humour, and 1990s B-movie excess, turning mad science and moral panic into a gleefully twisted cult classic. Feeling like a twisted mash-up between John Waters’ Serial Mom and Stuart Gordon’s Re-Animator, Frankenhooker is a bad taste triumph that revels in sublime camp.

Reviews

Equal parts exploitation and comedy, Frankenhooker is delightful and surprisingly progressive.
