Synopsis

Extended Play, Perth Drum & Bass, SourceEntertainment and Luna Cinemas presents on the big screen for the first time, the origin story of UK jungle’s peerless icon: MC STEVIE HYPER D.

Join us and celebrate as we bear witness to one of the most significant musical movements of the last 30 years as Stevie Hyper D’s legacy comes to life for the Perth Drum & Bass community with 🎧 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗼 (𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝘄) playing 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 / 𝗗𝗻𝗕 𝗦𝗲𝘁, $5 Rocky Ridge Beers from the bar, and wall projection from 6.15pm before the film starts at 7.00pm at Luna Leederville. 🎟 𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 now onsale.

𝗛𝗬𝗣𝗘𝗥: 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘 𝗛𝗬𝗣𝗘𝗥 𝗗 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 is the first ever feature-length documentary about legendary Jungle MC Stevie Hyper D – the man whose explosive energy, rapid-fire bars and unstoppable stage presence defined an era of Drum & Bass.

From pirate radio to rave arenas, Hyper’s voice became the sound of the movement, inspiring generations and setting a blueprint for MC culture worldwide.

Written by Stevie’s nephew Darrell Austin and directed by Jamie Ross-Hulme, the film weaves together rare archives, unseen footage and intimate interviews to tell the untold story of a pioneer taken too soon. It’s a powerful tribute to the golden age of Jungle and the community that carried it forward into today’s DnB culture.
