In this personal tale, filmmaker Francesca Comencini reflects on her bond with and pays homage to her father Luigi Comencini, using cinema as a way of understanding life. An intimate account of shared moments between father and daughter, in her memories cinema is always a shared passion, and a way of being in the world that creates the space for imagination.
A devoted father (Fabrizio Gifuni) working in the film industry shares a deep bond with his young daughter. The father tells his daughter about his work and listens to her, observes her, speaks to her with seriousness, composure and respect. Together, they discover the magical world of childhood through the daughter's eyes and the set of Pinocchio, the film he is currently working on, where life pulses and chaos meets fantasy.
As the child grows older, the enchantment vanishes, and her idyllic childhood slips away. Later, after she falls into some bad situations, and her father takes her to Paris to save their bond.
