Synopsis
Angelina Jolie unveils new highs within her emotional reigster in Pablo Larraín's Maria — the tumultuous, beautiful, yet tragic story of the world's greatest female opera singer, Maria Callas.
Acclaimed director Pablo Larraín follows his films about Jackie Kennedy and Princess Diana with another dark fantasia about an iconic woman. Academy Award–winner Angelina Jolie is Maria Callas, one of the most iconic performers of the 20th century. Maria reimagines the legendary soprano in her final days as the diva reckons with her identity and life, following the American-Greek soprano as she retreats to Paris after a glamorous and tumultuous life in the public eye.
Renowned Chilean filmmaker Larraín is known for such films as Jackie, Spencer, Neruda, and 2023’s El Conde, which garnered a Best Cinematography Oscar nomination.

Reviews
Alternately thrilling and heartbreaking... In a movie that is stately on the surface and stormy underneath, Jolie... is ideal.
A bracing reminder of the power she brings to the screen, Angelina Jolie delivers a deeply moving performance in Pablo Larrain’s Maria.
Jolie is full of poise, bravado, and sparkling grace... She’s erratic, melancholic, and quietly suffering, but she carries herself with the unshakeable grace of a queen.
