Synopsis

Dream big, see it first!
First Look Screenings
Tue, Jan 13
Luna Leederville & Luna on SX

One of the most hotly anticipated films of the Summer, the latest collaboration from powerhouse studio A24 and director Josh Safdie (Uncut Gems, Good Time) is an epic sports drama following Marty Mauser (Timothee Chalamet), a young ping pong prodigy and his relentless quest to prove himself as the best table tennis player in the world.

Inspired by real-life pro table tennis legend Marty Reisman, - known as 'the Needle' for his lithe build and 'hardbat' style of play - the film is set in 1950s New York City and features an all-star cast with Oscar-nominee Timothee Chalamet in the lead role, alongside Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow in her first substantial film role since 2019, Fran Drescher, and Tyler Okonma (Tyler the Creator) in his film debut.

Timothee Chalamet triumphs in Josh Safdie’s character-rich ‘Rocky’ of ping pong movies.
Deadline
This genre-defying original is an exhilarating sports comedy, a scrappy character study, and a thrumming evocation of early ‘50s New York City.
The Hollywood Reporter
Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein come away with one of the year’s few masterpieces.
Variety
Timothee Chalamet’s legendary performance anchors an exhilarating American epic about the true cost of greatness.
