Sorry, Baby
Synopsis
A breakout hit at Sundance and screenplay award winner, Sorry, Baby is a bold, darkly funny, and deeply affecting debut from writer-director Eva Victor. Told in nonlinear chapters, the film follows five pivotal years in the life of Agnes (played with wit and vulnerability by Victor herself), a young English professor whose journey from grad school to tenure is quietly shaped by the aftermath of a traumatic event.
Alongside Agnes are her vibrant best friend Lydie (Naomi Ackie), her endearingly awkward neighbour (Lucas Hedges), and an unexpected companion in the form of a stray kitten. With its sharp script, emotionally layered storytelling, and fearless tone, this poignant dramedy marks the arrival of a bold new voice in contemporary cinema.
Fresh from the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, Sorry, Baby is not to be missed.

Reviews
No quick hit of words could ever accurately convey the power and potency of Victor’s debut, a darkly funny and enormously tender film.
★★★★ A warm, bitingly funny refocus of the trauma plot... Not only nimble and consistently funny, but one of the best, most honest renderings of life after sexual assault that I’ve seen.
