Go behind the scenes of DJANDJAY, the second studio album from multi-award-winning artist Baker Boy, a proud Yolŋu man.
Rooted in culture and shaped by personal growth, DJANDJAY is Baker Boy’s most emotionally layered and creatively evolved work yet — a powerful statement of resilience, identity, and transformation.
The follow-up to his acclaimed debut Gela (2021) brings his rich cultural message and expanding sound to a global stage. Where Gela introduced the artist, DJANDJAY reveals Danzal the man: grounded, complex, and unafraid to speak his truth.
This exclusive documentary traces the creative journey behind DJANDJAY, a project more than two years in the making. From the earliest writing sessions in LA to the filming of five music videos and the creation of the album's bold visual identity, the film offers an intimate look at the evolution of Baker Boy's artistry and the tight-knit team that helped shape it.
Featuring behind-the-scenes moments and candid reflections from Baker Boy himself, the documentary captures the energy, experimentation and emotion that fuelled his most vulnerable and authentic work to date.
Host Perun Bonser is a Ngarluma filmmaker with a background in contemporary dance. Perun is passionate about telling authentic stories that challenge audiences and empower First Nations communities. Perun has written and directed many screen projects that have featured on ABC, NITV and screened at numerous film festivals, including Hot Docs, imagine NATIVE, St Tropez Film Festival, CinefestOZ, Sydney Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival, and many more.
