By day, Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) is an ordinary software programmer. By night, he's Neo, a hacker haunted by the feeling that something isn't right with the world. When the mysterious Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) offers him a choice between illusion and truth, Neo discovers that his reality is a lie: Machines have taken over the world, trapping humans inside a simulation called "the Matrix" and harvesting them for energy. Armed with extraordinary new abilities, Neo joins a group of underground insurgents. As the last human city of Zion prepares for an overwhelming assault from the Machine Army, freedom fighters Neo (Keanu Reeves), Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) race against time to uncover the secrets of the Matrix. While Zion's military leaders dismiss prophecies, Morpheus and Neo put their trust in the Oracle, who directs Neo to find the "Keymaker" to reach the Source of the Matrix.
