Synopsis
Celebrated Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof (There Is No Evil) directs a powerful political drama spotlighting the ongoing political unrest in Tehran.
Shot entirely in secret, Mohammad Rasoulof's award-winning thriller centres on a family thrust into a life of paranoia and secrecy when husband and father Iman is appointed as an investigating judge in Tehran. As political unrest erupts in the streets, Iman imposes draconian measures on his wife Najmeh and daughters Sana and Rezvan, straining family ties as distrust grows.
Winning the Jury Special Prize and Fripresci awards at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, The Seed of a Sacred Fig is an astounding filmic accomplishment in the face of political oppression.

Reviews
A radical triumph… there are only a handful of films you’ll see in your lifetime that will capture a moment in time with a fraction of the same clarity, conviction and compassion.. You’ll be unable to look away for even a second.
Feels almost classical... as if we were watching an old legend fitted for a new age.
Masterful and gripping, will all kinds of twists.
A blistering, propulsive thriller.
