Trifole
Synopsis
A feast for the senses… the must-see film for fans of truffles, Italy and cute dogs.
A moving story of family, connecting to nature and enjoying life’s simple pleasures, the film delves deep into the culture, history and spectacular landscape of Piedmont in northern Italy, the world’s truffle capital.
A visually stunning modern fable set in the Alba white truffle region of Italy, where Londoner Dalia returns to care for her ageing grandfather, Igor, an expert truffle forager. Armed with his loyal dog Birba, she hunts for a prize-winning truffle to save his home.
Elegant and cinematic, Trifole (Truffles) delves deep into the beauty and culture of this incredible place, connecting people to the earth and to each other.
Trifole stars the now 90-year-old and Piedmont local Umberto Orsini (La Dolce Vita, Visconti’s The Damned & Ludwig), talented newcomer and the film’s writer Ydalie Turk, one of the leading Italian actresses of our time, Margherita Buy, and the scene-stealing Birba the dog.

Reviews
A poetic and colourful fable that enchants and surprises.
Well worth rooting out.
Trifole is the must-see film for fans of truffles, Italy and cute dogs.
To watch Trifole is to fall in love with Langhe. An agrarian past perfectly preserved in an uncertain present.
Traditions are people’s stories, connecting them to their ancestors, to this patch of ground. You can’t put a price on any of it, and that, ultimately, is what Trifole is all about.
An absorbing and moving feature that feels as if it too has been unearthed.
Trifole is a deeply satisfying and surprising adventure in cinematic storytelling.
An enormously pleasurable film.
