Synopsis

With stunningly nuanced performances from Oscar nominees Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield, this cleverly structured romance, directed by John Crowley and penned by screenwriter Nick Payne, delves into the profound question of how to make the most of the time we have in this world.

From their very first encounter, Almut (Pugh) and Tobias (Garfield) have experienced anything but an ordinary relationship. When Almut faces a life-altering medical diagnosis, with treatment options that may or may not be effective. Should she risk spending precious time on treatments, or embrace what remains of her life to the fullest?

We Live in Time unfolds across three distinct timelines, offering a layered experience of their relationship that deepens our understanding of how memories intersect with the present and how life’s meaning builds through shared moments.

Bringing this intricately crafted story to life, Pugh captivates as a young woman striving to balance her personal connections with her ambitious career, while Garfield delivers a career-defining performance, using Tobias' quiet demeanour to reveal an underlying depth of emotion.
