Synopsis
Jordan Firstman’s wildly funny and remarkably assured feature debut follows a hard-partying New York City club promoter, who sees his whirlwind lifestyle upended by the arrival of the 10-year-old son he never knew he had.
Washed-up thirtysomething New York scenester Peter (Jordan Firstman), awakening from a decade-long hangover, receives an unexpected visitor: the 10-year-old British son (Reggie Absolom) he never knew he had. The result of a lone, long-forgotten sexual encounter with a woman, the kid is in desperate need of care after his mother’s death, and though Peter has never put his heart into anything other than promoting massive parties, the experience of becoming an insta-dad prompts a reconsideration of his hedonistic, drug-fueled party boy lifestyle. Swerving from irreverent satire to genuine pathos, this wildly funny and remarkably assured feature debut from writer-director-actor Firstman is an unusual and satisfying take on the challenges and pleasures of queer millennial living, and a loving reminder that it’s never too late to come of age.
Screening at Luna Leederville from January 14.

Reviews
Firstman’s writing and performance work hand in hand, and both are exceptional. The script is raw, sharp, and genuinely funny, and his turn as Peter is a revelation.
Above other A24 coming-of-age films trying to find a similar truth. This is one of the great debuts in recent memory, a soul-pouring effort from a voice that was waiting for his turn.
There's something special in the multi-faceted loveliness of Club Kid, a strong contender for the best debut of 2026 and among the very best films of the year too.
Club Kid is a riot. I can’t think of one visual gag or scripted quip in the picture that doesn’t land.
