Synopsis

EUGENE ONEGIN (Tchaikovsky)

Timur Zangiev; Asmik Grigorian (Tatiana), Maria Barakova (Olga), Stephanie Blythe (Filippyevna), Stanislas de Barbeyrac (Lenski), Igor Golovatenko (Onegin), Alexander Tsymbalyuk (Prince Gremin)

Following her acclaimed 2024 Met debut in Madama Butterfly, soprano Asmik Grigorian returns as Tatiana, the lovestruck heroine in this passionate operatic adaptation of Pushkin’s classic. Baritone Igor Golovatenko portrays the urbane Onegin, who comes to recognize his affection for her far too late.

Directed by Tony Award–winner Deborah Warner, the Met’s evocative production “offers a beautifully detailed reading of… Tchaikovsky’s lyrical romance” (The Telegraph).

This performance will be transmitted live from the Metropolitan Opera to cinemas worldwide on May 2, as part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series.
