Nosferatu
Synopsis
Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse) returns to the horror genre with a modern interpretation of a Gothic classic, Nosferatu.
A remake of F. W. Murnau's 1922 masterpiece of German Expressionism, which was in turn based on Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula, Nosferatu is a tale of undying obsession, following a haunted young woman (Lily-Rose Depp) and the terrifying vampire (Bill Skarsgård) infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake. The film also stars Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, and Willem Dafoe.
Nosferatu was shot by cinematographer Jarin Blaschke, whose previous work with Eggers on The Lighthouse was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Cinematography.

Reviews
★★★★ (out of 4) Cryptic, beautiful and unsettling... an awesome achievement.
★★★★★ The rare vampire picture to enter the bloodstream of the genre and engage it on the cellular level, reducing the mythological mainstay back to its original-sin essence of sex and death so that modern viewers might experience the attendant flushes of attraction and repulsion anew. Behold: an immaculate feat of craft coursing with and in delirious thrall to a malevolent power, as unknown as darkness itself yet as central to human impulse as a heartbeat.
A visually stunning, masterfully executed, timeless gothic tale of obsession.
