Synopsis
...Come and see how the other half live
When three upwardly-mobile millennial couples descend on a luxury farmstay for a joint thirtieth birthday, chaos ensues - infidelity, inequality and inebriation as the dark foibles of the Aussie elite are laid bare in hilarious fashion. A sophisticated and sardonic satire of modern Australia, this already-acclaimed indie features an extraordinary ensemble cast including David Quirk (Rosehaven, Please Like Me), Nicola Frew (I Am Woman, The Daughter) and a startlingly meta star-turn from mainstream TV personality Luke Jacobz (X-Factor, Home and Away). After much-hyped screenings across the country (including a sellout session at the 400-seat AGNSW Sydney Cinémathèque), The Birthday Trip is coming to theatres for wide release on July 30th.
Screening from August 13 at Luna Leederville.

Reviews
Bold, mature. One of the best Australian films of the year.
An intimately intense character study taking a leaf from Soderbergh
A pinpoint satire of Australia in the mode of Ruben Succession / Östlund / Thomas Vinterberg / Succession / The White Lotus
A pitch-black landscape of the Australian Bourgeoisie. The type of film Australia should be producing.
Funny, sharp, incredible performances. Very clear satire, in conversation with Joachim Trier.
