The Housemaid
Synopsis
A sly throwback to the lurid thrillers of the 90s, The Housemaid is a wildly entertaining tale told with a wicked, pulpy sense of fun, featuring a delightfully unnerving performance from Amanda Seyfried.
Adapted from Freida McFadden's bestselling novel by director Paul Feig, the film plunges audiences into a twisted world where perfection is an illusion, and nothing is as it seems. Trying to escape her past, Millie (Sydney Sweeney) accepts a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar). But what begins as a dream job quickly unravels into something far more dangerous — a sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal, and power. Behind the Winchesters’ closed doors lies a world of shocking twists that will leave you guessing until the very end.
Screening at Luna Leederville from December 26.

Reviews
Diabolically entertaining... “The Housemaid” is a delightful hall of mirrors in which reality turns out to be subject to infinite modification.
Lurid, bombastic and very sexy.
A fantasy of terrible behavior getting its due.
Feig isn’t afraid of glossy camp, and he knows [...] how to use camp and excess to uncover truths about human behavior and systemic oppression.
