After years of anticipation, a truly unmissable event arrives in cinemas worldwide on March 21. Lise Davidsen takes on one of the ultimate dramatic soprano roles as Isolde in Wagner’s transcendent meditation on love and death, with heroic tenor Michael Spyres as the love-struck Tristan.
This momentous occasion also marks a new Met-debut staging by visionary director Yuval Sharon—hailed by The New York Times as “the most visionary opera director of his generation” and the first American to direct at the famed Wagner Festival in Bayreuth—alongside Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s first time conducting Tristan und Isolde at the Met.
Ekaterina Gubanova reprises her signature role as Brangäne, Tomasz Konieczny sings Kurwenal following celebrated Met performances in Der Fliegende Holländer and the Ring cycle, and Ryan Speedo Green makes his role debut as King Marke.
This performance is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing opera to cinemas worldwide.
