Synopsis

Set in an underground bunker, two-decades after the end of the world, where a wealthy family and a handful of friends and assistants reside, the circle of daily life is disturbed by the mysterious appearance of a young woman…

What makes Oppenheimer’s post-apocalyptic film unique is its genre bending use of the musical, as characters sing through this end-of-the-world drama.

Joshua Oppenheimer’s film is a remarkably ambitious work, with a powerful cast that includes Tilda Swinton, Michael Shannon, Moses Ingram and Lennie James, it is a work that challenges expectations.

Like Oppenheimer’s The Act of Killing (2012), The End is an unexpected work, complex and evocative, it is a film that commands the audience's attention.
