Synopsis

Under Franco’s dictatorship Spain had rigid, deeply conservative censorship laws, Catholic marriage was the only form of sexuality recognised on screen.

With the death of Franco, the censorship laws exploded wide open, and a new form of cinema known as Clasificada S (for over 18s only) was born.

Sex became a symbol of political freedom, and Spanish cinema would never be the same.

Sedano’s documentary takes the viewer on a fascinating and dizzying ride through the films that emerged to challenge the old world and celebrate the cultural and artistic freedom of the new era.

Actors, directors, producers and film historians, tell the story, illustrated with archive clips, and narrated by Iggy Pop.
